Video game tennis seems to have come along way since the days of Pong, but has it really? The object of the sport of tennis is basic enough that there really isn’t much you can do to reinvent the wheel. Put your character in the position of the pill, press a face button, and it’s time for your opponent to try the same thing. Rinse, repeat.
Pong and modern-day tennis games may be nearly identical at the core, but we aren’t playing on monochromatic monitors anymore. As the hardware increased in power and capacity, so did the ability to make tennis more palatable to the fans of the fuzzy balls.
