Retired Sgt. 1st Class Frederick T. Slape places a wreath at the memorial for fallen members of his unit in 2013. He and his wife Diane had promised the families of the fallen soldiers they would place a wreath annually. He was only able to do it twice before succumbing to an aggressive cancer.
MRI scans were ordered.
