Waterborn Swimming Club celebrates their fourth year at Curro Aurora Private School with pride as they revel in the success of their young swimmers.

Through its four-year training programme, which has now come to a successful culmination, the various swimming squads at the school are said to have grown from strength to strength.

The school is the only one in the region with an indoor heated 10-lane 25m swimming pool which children of all ages can use and be a part of a dedicated year-round swimming programme.

One of the club’s goals was to establish Curro as the go-to school in the area with its great facilities and in-house coaching which is open to swimmers from other schools too.

By the end of the competitive season, the school had two of its swimmers who qualified for South Africa Open Water Champs in Jeffrey’s Bay, 12 swimmers who qualified for the South African National Junior Swimming Champs in Durban and five swimmers who qualified for the South African National Aquatic Championships (seniors) in Port Elizabeth.

Waterborn Littlies Swim School has been operating in the teaching pool at the school’s aquatic centre for three years. The Littlies is a natural feeder for the competitive swimming squads.

The classes are progressive learn-to-swim to advanced stroke correction and from there, swimmers progress to the Waterborn squads.

JC Engelbrecht, Curro’s executive headmaster, is said to have made a tremendous impact on the aquatic centre since he started in 2017.

His pro-active attitude towards swimming has had a positive impact on the swimming at the school.
